- Last posted period for area &1 differs from area &2 ?The SAP error message FAA_POST218 indicates that there is a discrepancy between the last posted periods for two different areas in Asset Accounting (FI-AA). This typically occurs when you attempt to post a transaction in one area (e.g., Area 01 for book depreciation) while the last posted period for that area does not match the last posted period for another area (e.g., Area 20 for tax depreciation).
Cause:
- Different Last Posted Periods: The most common cause of this error is that the last posted period for the asset in one area is different from the last posted period in another area. Solution:
- Check Last Posted Periods: Review the last posted periods for both areas involved. You can do this by navigating to the asset master record and checking the relevant areas.
- Synchronize Periods: If the periods are indeed different, you may need to synchronize them. This could involve:
- Posting any necessary transactions in the area that is still open.
- Closing the open period in the area that is still allowing postings.
- Adjust Configuration: If the issue is due to configuration, you may need to adjust the settings in the Asset Accounting configuration to ensure that the periods align correctly.
- Consult with Finance Team: If you are unsure about how to proceed, it may be beneficial to consult with your finance team or SAP support to ensure that the correct actions are taken without impacting financial reporting.
