  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message ES010 - No objects matched the selection criteria ?

The SAP error message ES010 ("No objects matched the selection criteria") typically occurs when a user attempts to execute a transaction or report that requires specific selection criteria, but the criteria provided do not match any existing objects in the system. This can happen in various contexts, such as when searching for materials, customers, vendors, or other master data.

    Causes:

    1. Incorrect Selection Criteria: The most common cause is that the selection criteria entered do not correspond to any existing records. This could be due to typos, incorrect values, or using the wrong fields.
    2. Data Not Available: The data you are trying to access may not exist in the system. For example, if you are looking for a material that has not been created yet.
    3. Authorization Issues: Sometimes, the user may not have the necessary authorizations to view certain objects, leading to the impression that no objects exist.
    4. Filters Applied: If there are filters or settings applied in the selection screen that limit the results, it may lead to no matches being found.
    5. Data Deletion: The objects you are trying to access may have been deleted or archived.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Selection Criteria: Review the selection criteria you have entered. Ensure that all fields are filled out correctly and that there are no typos or incorrect values.
    2. Broaden Search Parameters: If possible, try to broaden your search parameters. For example, if you are searching for a specific material number, try searching with a wildcard or a broader range.
    3. Verify Data Existence: Confirm that the data you are trying to access actually exists in the system. You can do this by checking in the relevant master data transaction.
    4. Check Authorizations: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to view the objects you are trying to access. If you suspect an authorization issue, contact your SAP security team.
    5. Review Filters: Check if there are any filters applied that might be limiting the results. Clear any unnecessary filters and try again.
    6. Consult with IT Support: If you are still unable to resolve the issue, consult with your IT support team or SAP Basis team for further assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Depending on the context, you may be using different transaction codes (e.g., MM03 for material master, XK03 for vendor master, etc.).
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues related to the specific transaction or report you are using.
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help files for guidance on the specific transaction or report to understand the expected input and output.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the ES010 error and take appropriate action to resolve it.
