  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message EPS610 - You cannot change the status of the sample line to &1 ?

The SAP error message EPS610, which states "You cannot change the status of the sample line to &1," typically occurs in the context of handling sample lines in SAP, particularly in the area of quality management or material management. This error indicates that there is a restriction preventing the status of a sample line from being changed to the specified status (&1).

    Causes:

    1. Status Restrictions: The sample line may be in a status that does not allow for the requested change. For example, if the sample line is already in a final status (like "Completed" or "Rejected"), it may not be possible to change it to another status.
    2. Authorization Issues: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to change the status of the sample line.
    3. Business Rules: There may be specific business rules or configurations in place that restrict the status changes based on certain conditions (e.g., if the sample line is linked to a specific inspection lot).
    4. Incomplete Data: Required fields or data may be missing, preventing the status change.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Current Status: Review the current status of the sample line to determine if it is eligible for the requested status change. If it is in a final status, you may need to revert it to an earlier status first.
    2. Review Authorizations: Ensure that the user attempting to make the change has the necessary authorizations. If not, contact your SAP security administrator to request the appropriate permissions.
    3. Consult Business Rules: Check with your organization's SAP configuration or quality management team to understand any specific business rules that may be affecting the status change.
    4. Complete Required Data: Ensure that all required fields and data are filled out correctly before attempting to change the status again.
    5. Use Transaction Codes: If applicable, use the appropriate transaction codes (like QA32 for inspection lots) to manage sample lines and their statuses.
