EL479
- Device &1, reg. &2, MR date &3: Implausible MR lies in a billed period ?The SAP error message EL479 indicates that there is an issue with a meter reading (MR) that is considered implausible because it falls within a billed period. This typically occurs in the context of utilities management, where meter readings are used to calculate billing for services such as electricity, water, or gas.
Cause:
The error arises when:
- A meter reading is entered that is earlier than the last billed reading or falls within a billing period that has already been closed.
- The system detects that the new meter reading is inconsistent with the previous readings, which could indicate an error in data entry or a problem with the meter itself.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:
Check the Meter Reading: Verify the meter reading that is causing the error. Ensure that it is correct and that it logically follows the previous readings.
Review Billed Periods: Check the billing periods in the system to confirm that the new meter reading does not fall within a closed billing period. If it does, you may need to adjust the reading or the billing period.
Adjust the Reading: If the reading is indeed incorrect, you may need to enter a corrected meter reading that is valid and does not conflict with the billing periods.
Reopen the Billing Period: If necessary, and if your business process allows it, you may consider reopening the billing period to accommodate the new reading. This should be done with caution, as it can affect financial reporting and customer billing.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or your organization's guidelines for handling meter readings and billing periods to ensure compliance with internal processes.
Contact Support: If the issue persists or if you are unsure how to proceed, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert for further assistance.
