Message text: Value of characteristic &1 cannot be derived
The value for characteristic &V1& cannot be derived automatically from
the configurations of the higher-level service objects for one of the
following reasons:
Characteristic &V1& does not exist in these configurations
Characteristic &V1& is not assigned a characteristic value in these
configurations
The remaining characteristic values could be derived.
None of the characteristics could be assigned values using the
functions in the variant configuration. This is because either all or
none of the characteristics could be assigned values as export
parameters using the object dependencies.
Assign the characteristic values manually.
Check the functions in the variant configuration tools to be used to
assign values to characteristic &V1&. If you do not wish to derive the
characteristic value automatically with other charactistic values,
define your own function.
<ZH>&example&</>
Function A is to be used to derive values for the following
characteristics:
<LS>Size</>
<LS>Extras</>
<LS>Color</>
The characteristic <LS>color</> cannot be derived from the
configurations of the higher-level service objects or cannot be
assigned values.
Proceed as follows:
If the characteristic <LS>color</> in the higher-level service objects
is optional, define the new functions:
B to derive the characteristics <LS>size</> and <LS>extras</>
C to derive the characteristic <LS>color</>
Replace function A with the new functions B and C in the configuration
profile of the general maintenance task list.

EEWMSERVICE250
- Value of characteristic &1 cannot be derived ?The SAP error message EEWMSERVICE250, which states "Value of characteristic &1 cannot be derived," typically occurs in the context of SAP's Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) module. This error indicates that the system is unable to determine a value for a specific characteristic (represented by &1) during a process, such as during the creation of a handling unit, stock transfer, or other warehouse-related activities.
Causes:
Missing Master Data: The characteristic in question may not have been defined in the master data. For example, if the characteristic is related to a product, the product master data may not have the necessary attributes set up.
Configuration Issues: The configuration settings for the warehouse or the specific process may not be correctly set up to derive the characteristic value.
Inconsistent Data: There may be inconsistencies in the data that prevent the system from deriving the value. This could be due to missing or incorrect entries in related tables.
Dependencies Not Met: The characteristic may depend on other characteristics or conditions that are not met, leading to the inability to derive its value.
Solutions:
Check Master Data: Verify that the master data for the relevant product or object includes the necessary characteristics. Ensure that all required fields are filled out correctly.
Review Configuration: Check the configuration settings in the EWM system. Ensure that the settings for the warehouse, product, and any relevant processes are correctly defined to allow for the derivation of the characteristic.
Data Consistency Check: Perform a consistency check on the data involved. Look for any missing or incorrect entries that could be causing the issue.
Analyze Dependencies: Investigate any dependencies that the characteristic may have. Ensure that all prerequisite conditions are satisfied for the characteristic to be derived.
Debugging: If the issue persists, consider using debugging tools to trace the process and identify where the derivation is failing.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to the specific characteristic and its derivation logic for additional insights.
