  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message EEDMRTP008 - Units of measurement do not match in input parameters &1 and &2 ?

The SAP error message EEDMRTP008 indicates that there is a mismatch in the units of measurement (UoM) between two input parameters in a transaction or process. This error typically occurs in scenarios where quantities are being processed, such as in material management, production planning, or sales and distribution.

    Cause:

The error arises when the system detects that the units of measurement for two different fields or parameters do not correspond or are incompatible. For example, if one parameter is in kilograms and the other is in grams, the system will throw this error because it cannot process the values correctly without a consistent unit of measurement.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Input Parameters: Review the input parameters that are causing the error. Identify the fields that are being compared or processed together.

    2. Verify Units of Measurement: Ensure that the units of measurement for both parameters are the same. If they are different, convert one of the values to match the other. For example, if one value is in kilograms and the other is in grams, convert kilograms to grams (1 kg = 1000 g) or vice versa.

    3. Adjust Master Data: If the error is related to master data (like material master or vendor master), check the UoM settings in the relevant master records. Ensure that the UoM is correctly defined and consistent across related records.

    4. Review Configuration: If applicable, review the configuration settings in the SAP system related to units of measurement. Ensure that the UoM conversion factors are correctly set up in the system.

    5. Test the Changes: After making the necessary adjustments, re-run the transaction or process to see if the error persists.

    Related Information:

    • Unit of Measurement (UoM) Configuration: In SAP, UoM can be configured in the material master (MM01) and can include base units, alternative units, and conversion factors.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as MM02 (Change Material), ME21N (Create Purchase Order), or others depending on where the error occurs.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message. Sometimes, specific versions of SAP may have bugs that are documented in SAP Notes.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the cause of the EEDMRTP008 error in your SAP system.
