EAMS_SP051
- Technical object number not unique; specify technical object type ?The SAP error message EAMS_SP051 indicates that there is a problem with the uniqueness of the technical object number in the system. This error typically occurs when you are trying to create or modify a technical object (like a piece of equipment, functional location, etc.) in the SAP system, and the system cannot determine which type of technical object you are referring to because the number provided is not unique across the different types of technical objects.
Cause:
- Non-Unique Technical Object Number: The technical object number you are trying to use is not unique across the different types of technical objects in the system. For example, if you have both equipment and functional locations with the same number, the system cannot determine which one you are referring to.
- Missing Object Type Specification: The system requires you to specify the type of technical object (e.g., Equipment, Functional Location) when the number is ambiguous.
Solution:
- Specify the Technical Object Type: When entering the technical object number, ensure that you also specify the type of object you are working with. This can usually be done by selecting the appropriate object type from a dropdown menu or by entering it in a specific field.
- Check for Duplicates: Verify if there are any existing technical objects with the same number. You can do this by searching for the technical object in the relevant transaction (e.g., IE01 for Equipment, IL01 for Functional Locations).
- Use Unique Numbers: If possible, use unique numbers for your technical objects to avoid confusion and ensure that the system can correctly identify the object type.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or your organization's SAP guidelines for managing technical objects to ensure compliance with naming conventions and object types.
