Message text: Graphic cannot be displayed; start points and end points are the same
The graphic cannot be displayed because all the objects have the same
start points and end points. This could be due to one of the following:
All objects refer to an object located at a single point.
The Customizing settings for the unit of measurement determine how the
system converts and rounds the UoM values. When the system converts the
values for the start and end points to a different UoM (for example,
from meters to miles), the Customizing settings could cause the start
and end points to appear to have the same value.
The system only displays 3 decimal places. If the converted value has
more than 3 decimal places, the system rounds it to the third decimal
place.
Example: You have maintained objects for a functional location in
meters. You then call up these objects in miles. The system tries to
convert the start point, which is at meter 1 and the end point, which is
at meter 2, to the equivalent values in miles. However, one meter equals
0.000621 miles. The system can only display up to 3 decimal places, so
the start point is displayed as 0.001 and the end point is also
displayed as 0.001 (since 2 meters equals 0.00124, which is rounded to
0.001).
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

EAML076
- Graphic cannot be displayed; start points and end points are the same ?The SAP error message EAML076, which states "Graphic cannot be displayed; start points and end points are the same," typically occurs in the context of graphical representations in SAP, such as charts or diagrams. This error indicates that the graphical representation cannot be rendered because the data points that are supposed to define the graphic are identical, leading to a situation where there is no meaningful graphic to display.
Cause:
- Identical Data Points: The most common cause of this error is that the data being used to generate the graphic has the same start and end points. For example, if you are trying to plot a line graph and both the starting and ending values are the same, the system cannot create a line.
- Data Integrity Issues: There may be issues with the data integrity, such as missing or incorrect data entries that lead to the same values being used for both start and end points.
- Configuration Issues: Sometimes, the configuration of the report or the graphic settings may not be set up correctly, leading to this error.
Solution:
- Check Data Points: Review the data being used for the graphic. Ensure that the start and end points are different. If they are the same, you may need to adjust the data or the parameters being used to generate the graphic.
- Data Validation: Implement data validation checks to ensure that the data being fed into the graphic does not contain identical start and end points.
- Modify Graphic Settings: If applicable, check the settings of the graphic or report configuration to ensure that it is set up correctly to handle the data being provided.
- Use Alternative Data: If the current data set does not provide meaningful differences, consider using a different data set that has varying values for the start and end points.
Related Information:
By addressing the underlying data issues and ensuring that the graphic is configured correctly, you should be able to resolve the EAML076 error and successfully display the graphic.
