E1414
- Destination system is not a Unicode system ?The SAP error message E1414, which states "Destination system is not a Unicode system," typically occurs when there is an attempt to transfer data between a Unicode and a non-Unicode SAP system. This can happen during various operations, such as data transfers, remote function calls (RFC), or when using certain SAP tools that require compatibility between Unicode and non-Unicode systems.
Cause:
- System Compatibility: The source system is a Unicode system, while the target system is a non-Unicode system. Unicode systems can handle a wider range of characters, while non-Unicode systems have limitations on character sets.
- Data Transfer: When trying to transfer data that includes characters not supported by the non-Unicode system, the error can occur.
- Configuration Issues: Incorrect configuration in the RFC destination settings or in the data transfer settings can lead to this error.
Solution:
- Check System Type: Verify the character set of both the source and target systems. You can do this by checking the system properties in the SAP GUI.
- Use Compatible Systems: If possible, ensure that both systems are either Unicode or non-Unicode. If you need to transfer data between them, consider converting the data to a compatible format.
- Data Conversion: If you must transfer data to a non-Unicode system, you may need to convert the data to a format that is compatible with the non-Unicode system. This may involve removing or replacing unsupported characters.
- RFC Destination Settings: Check the RFC destination settings in transaction
