Message type: E = Error
Message class: DO - Dictionary: Mass activation of domains and data elements
Message number: 124
Message text: Change causes adjustment of dependencies and possible updates
The domain was changed. The change causes the dependent tables and
structures to be adjusted. Dependent tables and structures are the
tables and structures which contain a field to which the domain is
assigned.
One of the following attributes of a domain was changed:
- data type
- number of places
- number of decimal places.
This change can result in a conversion, i.e. activation and adjustment
on the database, for dependent tables (transparent, pooled or cluster).
The database system on which it is based, the attributes of the
corresponding table field and whether the table contains data on the
database determine whether the change will cause a conversion.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
If you really want to make the change, you should make sure that the
domain and its dependent table is activated in mass processing if there
is a large number of dependent tables and structures. To do so, enter
the domain for mass processing in table TACOB of the general table
maintenance screen.
The activation log of the domain specifies whether dependent tables
have to be converted and which tables have to be converted. If there is
a large number and if the tables to be converted are large, make sure
that the dependent tables are converted in mass processing. You can
enter the table for mass processing using the database utility (menu
Utilities -> Database utility).
