SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: DMEE_PAYMFORMAT - Messages for DMEE Payment Formats

  • Message number: 689

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

A node was deactivated in the Parent tree.

    System Response

The node has a subtree with a redefined node. Deactivation of the parent
node caused also deactivation of the subtree, so also deactivation of
    the redefined node.

    How to fix this error?

If you want the redefined node to be activated, you should activate the
deactivated parent node. If you want to have only the redefined node
activated, you have to copy (Copy & Paste) the redefined node to another
place and deactivate the parent note again (the best way is to use the
Revert to original button for this purpose).

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message DMEE_PAYMFORMAT689 - Please check subtree of node &1. There are redefined nodes ?

The SAP error message DMEE_PAYMFORMAT689 indicates that there is an issue with the DMEE (Data Medium Exchange Engine) format configuration, specifically related to the structure of the payment format tree. The message suggests that there are redefined nodes in the subtree of the specified node, which can lead to inconsistencies or conflicts in the data structure.

    Cause:

    1. Redefined Nodes: The error typically arises when there are nodes in the DMEE tree that have been redefined incorrectly. This can happen if:

      • A node is defined multiple times in a way that conflicts with its parent or sibling nodes.
      • The structure of the DMEE tree has been altered without proper adjustments to the redefined nodes.
    2. Incorrect Configuration: The configuration of the payment format may not adhere to the expected structure, leading to conflicts in how the data is processed.

    3. Versioning Issues: If there are multiple versions of the DMEE format, it’s possible that the wrong version is being referenced or that there are inconsistencies between versions.

    Solution:

    1. Check the DMEE Tree Structure:

      • Open the DMEE transaction (usually via transaction code DMEE).
      • Navigate to the node specified in the error message (indicated by &1).
      • Review the subtree of the node for any redefined nodes that may conflict with each other.
    2. Correct Redefinitions:

      • Ensure that nodes are not redefined in a way that causes conflicts. If necessary, remove or adjust the redefinitions to ensure that each node is uniquely defined within its context.
    3. Validate the Configuration:

      • Use the validation tools available in the DMEE transaction to check for errors in the configuration.
      • Make sure that the payment format adheres to the required specifications and that all nodes are correctly defined.
    4. Test the Configuration:

      • After making changes, test the payment format to ensure that it processes correctly without errors.
    5. Consult Documentation:

      • Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for guidance on configuring DMEE formats and understanding the structure of the DMEE tree.
    6. Seek Support:

      • If the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP support or consulting with a colleague who has experience with DMEE configurations.
