DMCLG191
- Data structure &1 exists in the DDIC in another version, compare ?The SAP error message DMCLG191 indicates that there is a conflict with a data structure in the Data Dictionary (DDIC) because it exists in another version. This typically occurs during the transport of objects or when trying to activate a data structure that has been modified in a way that conflicts with its existing version in the system.
Cause:
Version Conflict: The data structure you are trying to activate or modify has a different version in the DDIC. This can happen if:
- The data structure was modified in another development environment and transported to the current environment.
- There are multiple versions of the data structure due to parallel development or changes made by different developers.
Transport Issues: If the transport request containing the changes to the data structure has not been imported correctly, it may lead to version discrepancies.
Inconsistent State: The system may be in an inconsistent state due to failed activations or incomplete transports.
Solution:
Compare Versions: Use the transaction code SE11 (Data Dictionary) to compare the versions of the data structure. You can do this by:
- Navigating to the data structure in SE11.
- Selecting the "Utilities" menu and then "Version Management" to see the different versions.
- Compare the versions to identify the differences.
Activate the Correct Version: If you find that the version you are trying to activate is outdated or incorrect, you may need to activate the correct version or make necessary adjustments to ensure compatibility.
Transport Management: Ensure that all relevant transport requests have been imported correctly. You can check the transport logs for any errors or inconsistencies.
Check for Dependencies: Sometimes, other objects (like tables, views, or programs) may depend on the data structure. Ensure that all dependent objects are also consistent and activated.
Consult with Team Members: If you are working in a team environment, check with your colleagues to see if they have made changes to the data structure that you are unaware of.
Use the Transport Organizer: If the issue persists, you may need to use the Transport Organizer (transaction SE09 or SE10) to manage and resolve transport-related issues.
