Message class: DMC_DTL - Messages for DMC data transfer layer
Message number: 049
Message text: Semaphore values could not be determined and default values are taken
The function that determines the possible data load for all the systems
involved in a data transfer (receiver, sender and conversion system)
detected that for at least one of these systems, the calculated load
number is 0.
This is an irregular situation, because in this case, no data transfer
would be possible.
Semphore value has been set to a default value of 50 for the respective
system.
This default value is a very high value and is set just to make sure
that we do not artificially slow down the transfer. The number of batch
jobs that really will be started will be limited by the number of
available batch jobs of the central system. But, here we run the risk
that the system for which the OS collector is not running will get too
much load.
There might be two reasons for this situation:
1) the necessary system information is missing in the respective
system. This happens if the OS collector does not run in this system.
Then, you need to start the OS collector in transaction ST06.
2) the percentage values specified are too low. In this case, change
these values.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

This error is typically associated with the Data Migration Cockpit (DMC) or similar data management tools within SAP.
Cause:
- Configuration Issues: The semaphore values may not be properly configured in the system. This could be due to missing or incorrect settings in the DMC configuration.
- System Environment: The environment in which the DMC is running may not be set up correctly, leading to the inability to retrieve the necessary semaphore values.
- Authorization Issues: The user executing the operation may not have the necessary authorizations to access the semaphore values.
- Technical Glitches: There could be temporary technical issues or bugs in the system that prevent the retrieval of semaphore values.
Solution:
- Check Configuration: Review the DMC configuration settings to ensure that all necessary parameters are correctly set. This includes checking the settings related to semaphore values.
- Review Logs: Check the application logs for any additional error messages or warnings that could provide more context about the issue.
- User Authorizations: Ensure that the user has the appropriate authorizations to access the required data and settings.
- System Restart: Sometimes, a simple restart of the DMC or the underlying system can resolve temporary glitches.
