  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You attempted to perform one of the following actions:
Create a data record on the <ZK>Create Dangerous Goods Master: Initial
    Screen</> screen
However, the data record cannot be created since a data record already
exists in the system as a combination of the same material and the same
    dangerous goods regulation.
Provided that you are on the Packing Requirements tab page, a data
record already exists as a combination of the same material, the same
dangerous goods regulation, and the same packaging code.
Display a data record on the <ZK>Change Dangerous Goods Master: Hit
    Lists</> screen
In order to be able to change and display the data record, you must go
back to the <ZK>Change Dangerous Goods Master: Initial Screen</> screen
and change the selection criteria here.
It is possible that the validity period that you chose overlaps with
that of the existing data record, although the existing data record for
the key date of the entry has been deleted.

    System Response

    The system rejects your entry.

    How to fix this error?

Display the dangerous goods master for the whole period and enter a
    corresponding validity period if required.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message DGA104 - Data record &1 &2 &3 cannot be created because it already exists ?

The SAP error message DGA104 indicates that a data record you are trying to create already exists in the system. This error typically occurs in the context of data management, such as when dealing with master data records, transactional data, or configuration settings.

    Cause:

The primary cause of this error is an attempt to create a new record that has a unique key or identifier that already exists in the database. This could happen in various scenarios, such as:

    • Trying to create a new customer or vendor record with an ID that is already in use.
    • Attempting to add a new material or product that has the same material number as an existing one.
    • Inserting a record into a table where a unique constraint is violated.

    Solution:

To resolve the DGA104 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Existing Records: Before creating a new record, check the existing records to see if the one you are trying to create already exists. You can do this by using transaction codes relevant to the data you are working with (e.g., XD03 for customers, MK03 for materials).

    2. Use a Different Key: If the record already exists and you need to create a new one, consider using a different unique identifier or key that does not conflict with existing records.

    3. Update Existing Record: If the record you are trying to create is meant to update an existing one, consider using the update functionality instead of create. This can often be done using transaction codes like XD02 for customers or MM02 for materials.

    4. Consult Documentation: Review the relevant SAP documentation or help files for the specific module you are working with to understand the unique constraints and how to manage them.

    5. Check for Data Migration Issues: If this error occurs during a data migration process, ensure that the data being imported does not contain duplicates that violate the unique constraints of the target system.

    6. Contact Support: If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert for further assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with the relevant transaction codes for the data you are working with (e.g., XD01, XD02, MM01, MM02).
    • Unique Constraints: Understand the unique constraints defined in the database tables you are working with, as these will dictate what constitutes a duplicate record.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to the DGA104 error message.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the DGA104 error and take appropriate action to resolve it.
