The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Try to delete the entries that are not in use, by calling up the same

DBMAN236
- Dimension &1 is valid for Basic and aggregate Cube. Deletion not possible ?The SAP error message DBMAN236 indicates that there is an issue with the deletion of a dimension in a data model, specifically in the context of a Basic or Aggregate Cube. This error typically arises when you attempt to delete a dimension that is still in use or is required for the cube's structure.
Cause:
- Dimension Usage: The dimension you are trying to delete is still being referenced by the cube. In SAP BW (Business Warehouse), dimensions are integral to the structure of InfoCubes, and certain dimensions cannot be removed if they are still in use.
- Data Dependencies: There may be existing data or queries that depend on the dimension, preventing its deletion.
- Cube Type: The error specifically mentions that the dimension is valid for Basic and Aggregate Cubes, which means that the dimension is essential for the cube's operation.
Solution:
- Check Dependencies: Before attempting to delete the dimension, check if it is being used in any queries, reports, or other data models. You can use transaction codes like RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench) to analyze dependencies.
- Remove References: If the dimension is being used, you will need to remove or modify those references. This may involve:
- Deleting or modifying queries that use the dimension.
- Adjusting any data flows or transformations that reference the dimension.
- Rebuild the Cube: If the dimension is critical and cannot be removed, consider whether you can redesign the cube or create a new cube without the dimension.
- Use the Right Tools: Utilize the SAP BW modeling tools to manage dimensions and cubes effectively. Ensure you are following the correct procedures for modifying data models.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific instructions on managing dimensions in InfoCubes.
