    field in an object table.
    For each object, SAP defines certain fields as released for use as
    <DS:GLOS.reference_characteristic>reference characteristics</>in
    classes. You enter the table structure like a class to which
    characteristics are allocated. However, the field in the object table
    to which the characteristic is linked is not released for use in a
    class or table structure.
