  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

Rebuild End of Purpose data via date selection may be long-running as
prior to starting the parallel processing all CRM business transactions
that correspond to the specified date range need to be determined. Only
after this determination the parallel processing can start.
In case the specified date range corresponds to a huge number of CRM
business transactions (even though the range might only consist of a
couple of days) a processing might run very long or it may even not
finish in time. There is no possibility to easily determine the number
of CRM business transactions in the system for a specified date range.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

Only use this option in case you want to rebuild End of Purpose relevant
data for CRM business transactions of a certain day or a low range of
dates. This option is not intended to be used for an initial index
rebuild of all CRM business transactions in the system. In the latter
case use the option for specifying Business Partner IDs.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CRM_DPP090 - Rebuild End of Purpose data via date selection may be long-running ?

The SAP error message CRM_DPP090 indicates that the process of rebuilding End of Purpose (EOP) data via date selection may take a long time to complete. This message typically arises in the context of data processing in SAP Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, particularly when dealing with large datasets or complex queries.

    Cause:

    1. Large Data Volume: The primary cause of this error is often the volume of data that needs to be processed. If there are a significant number of records to be evaluated or updated, the operation can take a considerable amount of time.
    2. Inefficient Queries: The queries or processes involved in rebuilding the EOP data may not be optimized, leading to longer execution times.
    3. System Performance: The overall performance of the SAP system can also impact the duration of the process. If the system is under heavy load or if there are resource constraints (CPU, memory, etc.), this can exacerbate the issue.
    4. Database Locks: If there are locks on the database tables being accessed, this can delay the processing time.

    Solution:

    1. Schedule During Off-Peak Hours: If possible, schedule the rebuild process during off-peak hours when system usage is lower. This can help improve performance and reduce the impact on users.
    2. Optimize Queries: Review and optimize the queries involved in the EOP data rebuild. Ensure that indexes are properly set up and that the queries are efficient.
    3. Data Archiving: If applicable, consider archiving old or unnecessary data to reduce the volume of data that needs to be processed.
    4. Monitor System Performance: Use SAP monitoring tools to check system performance and identify any bottlenecks. Address any issues related to CPU, memory, or I/O that may be affecting performance.
    5. Increase Resources: If the system frequently experiences performance issues, consider increasing the resources allocated to the SAP system (e.g., adding more memory or CPU power).
    6. Consult SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes or updates that may address performance issues related to the CRM_DPP090 message. SAP frequently releases patches and updates that can improve system performance.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes that may help in monitoring and managing the CRM system, such as ST22 (Dump Analysis), SM37 (Job Monitoring), and ST03N (Workload Analysis).
    • SAP Community: Engage with the SAP Community or forums to see if other users have encountered similar issues and what solutions they have implemented.
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation related to CRM data processing and EOP data management for best practices and guidelines.

By addressing the underlying causes and implementing the suggested solutions, you can mitigate the impact of the CRM_DPP090 error message and improve the efficiency of the EOP data rebuild process.
