How To Fix CR169 - Enter relation between unit of measure & and dimension time

SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: CR - (1,099) Work Center; (100,200) Capacity

  • Message number: 169

  • Message text: Enter relation between unit of measure & and dimension time

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You want the system to display available capacity in the unit of
measure &V1&. However, the unit of measure you entered is not
    recognized here.

    How to fix this error?

When maintaining capacities, enter the conversion for a unit of measure
that has the same dimension as the one you want to use. On the header
data screen, select the menu options Extras -> Units of measure.

    How can this happen?

You want to use tons. In that case you must maintain the relationship
between tons and the dimension time, for example 60 tons every hour or
    30 tons every 30 minutes.
It is also sufficient, if you maintain the relationship for a unit
of measure with the same dimension: for example, gram, kilogram. The
system internally calculates the relationship between all the units of
    measure with this dimension.
If you want to use a unit which has no dimension, for example, crate or
piece then you must uniquely define the relationship of this unit to
    time.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CR169 - Enter relation between unit of measure & and dimension time ?

The SAP error message CR169, which states "Enter relation between unit of measure & and dimension time," typically occurs in the context of creating or managing units of measure in SAP, particularly when dealing with time-related dimensions. This error indicates that there is a missing or incorrect relationship defined between a unit of measure and its corresponding time dimension.

    Cause:

    1. Missing Unit of Measure Definition: The unit of measure you are trying to use may not have been properly defined in the system.
    2. Incorrect Configuration: The relationship between the unit of measure and the time dimension may not have been established correctly in the configuration settings.
    3. Data Inconsistency: There may be inconsistencies in the data or configuration that prevent the system from recognizing the relationship.

    Solution:

    1. Check Unit of Measure Configuration:

      • Go to the transaction code CUNI (Unit of Measure Conversion) in SAP.
      • Verify that the unit of measure you are trying to use is defined correctly.
      • Ensure that the unit of measure is assigned to the correct dimension (in this case, time).
    2. Define Relationships:

      • If the relationship is missing, you may need to define it. This can typically be done in the same configuration area where you manage units of measure.
      • Ensure that the unit of measure is linked to the appropriate time dimension (e.g., seconds, minutes, hours).
    3. Check for Existing Entries:

      • Look for any existing entries that might conflict with the new entry you are trying to create. If there are duplicates or conflicting definitions, resolve those first.
    4. Consult Documentation:

      • Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on configuring units of measure and their relationships to dimensions.
    5. Testing:

      • After making the necessary changes, test the configuration by attempting to create or modify the relevant entries again to see if the error persists.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as CUNI for unit of measure management and CUN1 for creating new units of measure.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message.
    • User Roles and Authorizations: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to make changes to unit of measure configurations.
