Use of material quantity calculation for collective orders.
Material quantity calculation can only be used in a limited fashion for
process orders for a material with directly produced components.

    System Response

The material quantity calculation is only read for the material, for
which the order was originally created. No formulas for material
quantity calculation are read for any subordinate orders. Material
quantity calculation is not taken into account when the order
quantities for directly produced components are determined.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CP041 - User &1 has locked BOM &2 ?

The SAP error message CP041 indicates that a user is trying to access a Bill of Materials (BOM) that is currently locked by another user. This can happen in various scenarios, such as when a user is editing the BOM or when a transaction is in progress that requires exclusive access to the BOM.

    Cause:

    1. User Lock: Another user is currently editing the BOM, which prevents other users from making changes.
    2. Transaction Lock: A transaction that involves the BOM is currently being processed, leading to a temporary lock.
    3. System Lock: The system may have a lock due to a background job or a batch process that is using the BOM.

    Solution:

    1. Wait and Retry: If the lock is temporary, wait for the other user to finish their work and then try again.
    2. Identify the Locking User: Use transaction code SM12 to check for user locks. You can see which user has locked the BOM and potentially contact them to see if they can release the lock.
    3. Release the Lock: If the lock is no longer needed (e.g., the user has logged off unexpectedly), an administrator can manually release the lock using transaction SM12.
    4. Check for Background Jobs: Use transaction SM37 to check if there are any background jobs that might be locking the BOM. If so, you may need to wait for those jobs to complete or consult with the job owner.
    5. Review User Permissions: Ensure that the user has the necessary permissions to access and edit the BOM.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:
      • SM12: To view and manage user locks.
      • SM37: To monitor background jobs.
    • BOM Management: Understanding how BOMs are created and managed in SAP can help in troubleshooting issues related to locks.
    • User Communication: If multiple users are working on the same BOM, establishing a communication protocol can help avoid conflicts and locks.

If the issue persists after trying the above solutions, it may be necessary to consult with your SAP Basis team or technical support for further investigation.
