COM_HIERARCHY008
- Hierarchy &1 may only be changed in the original system &2 ?The SAP error message COM_HIERARCHY008 indicates that you are trying to change a hierarchy that can only be modified in the original system where it was created. This typically occurs in scenarios involving distributed systems or when using SAP Landscape Management (LaMa) or similar tools that manage multiple SAP systems.
Cause:
- Hierarchy Ownership: The hierarchy you are trying to modify is owned by a different system (the original system). SAP restricts changes to ensure data integrity and consistency across systems.
- Cross-System Changes: If you are working in a system that is not the original one where the hierarchy was created, you will encounter this error when attempting to make changes.
- Transport Issues: If the hierarchy was transported from one system to another, the original system is still considered the source for modifications.
Solution:
- Identify the Original System: Check the error message for the original system (System &2) where the hierarchy was created. You will need to log into that system to make any changes.
- Make Changes in the Original System: Access the original system and perform the necessary modifications to the hierarchy there.
- Transport Changes: If you need to transport changes back to the system you were working in, ensure that the transport requests are correctly configured and executed.
- Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or notes related to hierarchy management to understand the implications of changes and the correct procedures to follow.
