  • What causes this issue?

The system creates a new number range interval in the target subobject,
and copies it to table NRIV after the conversion.

    System Response

The system generates number range interval mapping values from existing
subobject mapping values. As a rule, the system does not change the
number range Customizing settings of a reference subobject (the
subobject that takes priority in the merge group). However, there are
some cases where the system has to create new intervals in the target
subobject in order to provide consistent mapping values:
If the number range exists in one of the source subobjects but does not
exist in the reference subobject (see example 1 below).
    or
If the number range intervals of the source and reference subobjects are
differently distributed over fiscal years (see example 2 below).
In both cases, the system creates new number range intervals and saves
them in internal tables. The system only copies these new intervals to
    table NRIV after the conversion.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    Subobject mapping (company codes):

    A002 -> A002 (reference company code)

    RF_BELEG A002 03 9999 2000000000 2999999999
Source number range A001/02 does not exist in the reference company code
A002. The system creates a new target number range A002/02 in order to
provide consistent number range interval mapping values.

    RF_BELEG A002 01 2010 3000000000 3999999999
Source interval A001/01/2007 does not exist in the reference company
code A002. The system creates a new target number range interval
A002/01/2007 in order to provide consistent number range interval
    mapping values.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CNV_NCE_BAS243 - New NR interval &1 created in the target subobject ?

The SAP error message CNV_NCE_BAS243 indicates that a new number range interval has been created in the target subobject during a data migration or conversion process. This typically occurs in the context of using SAP's data migration tools, such as the SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit or other conversion tools.

    Cause:

The error is usually caused by the following scenarios:

    1. Number Range Conflicts: The target system may not have the necessary number range intervals defined for the objects being migrated. When the migration tool attempts to assign a number to an object, it finds that the required number range is not available, leading to the creation of a new interval.
    2. Configuration Issues: The number range configuration in the target system may not match the source system, leading to discrepancies during the migration process.
    3. Data Consistency: The data being migrated may have gaps or inconsistencies that require the creation of new number ranges to maintain data integrity.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Number Range Configuration:

      • Go to the transaction code SNRO (Number Range Objects) in the target system.
      • Verify the number range object related to the error message and check if the required intervals are defined.
      • If necessary, create or adjust the number range intervals to ensure they align with the source system.
    2. Review Migration Settings:

      • Ensure that the migration settings are correctly configured to handle number ranges. This may involve adjusting the mapping or transformation rules in the migration tool.
    3. Data Validation:

      • Validate the data being migrated to ensure that it does not contain any inconsistencies or gaps that could lead to the creation of new number ranges.
    4. Consult Documentation:

      • Refer to the SAP documentation related to the specific migration tool you are using for any additional configuration steps or prerequisites.
    5. Testing:

      • After making the necessary adjustments, perform a test migration to see if the error persists. Monitor the logs for any further issues.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:
      • SNRO: To manage number range objects.
      • SCC1: To copy client settings, which may include number range configurations.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance on number range management during migrations.
    • Migration Tools: Familiarize yourself with the specific migration tool you are using, as each may have its own set of requirements and configurations.
