  • Message text: Replication for table &1 restarted automatically due to complex change

  • Show details Hide details
  • If the structure of a source table changes, this can affect the
replication of a table. There are two types of structural changes,
simple changes (adding a non-key field) and complex changes (changing a
data type or length, adding or deleting key fields).
In general, simple changes to a source system table structure do not
interrupt the replication process. The replication of data can continue
without the need for a new initial load.
In the event of a complex table structure change, the status of such a
table changes to <ZK>Failed</>. This means that in order to resume the
replication process for the table, the table must be stopped and
restarted manually (by using the <ZK>Data Provisioning </>pushbutton in
transaction LTRC). However, if you choose the option <ZK>Restart if
Complex Changes Occur</>, whenever the system detects a complex change
to the structure of any table in the configuration, the system will stop
the replication process for the table and restart it automatically.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CNV_IUUC_REPLICATION107 - Replication for table &1 restarted automatically due to complex change ?

The SAP error message CNV_IUUC_REPLICATION107 indicates that the replication process for a specific table has been restarted automatically due to a complex change in the data. This typically occurs in the context of SAP Landscape Transformation (SLT) or SAP Data Services, where data is being replicated from a source system to a target system.

    Cause:

The error is triggered when there are complex changes made to the data in the source table that the replication process cannot handle in a single transaction. Complex changes can include:

    • Bulk updates or deletes.
    • Changes that affect a large number of rows.
    • Changes that involve multiple tables or complex relationships.
    • Schema changes (like adding or dropping columns) that affect the structure of the table being replicated.

    Solution:

To resolve this issue, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check the Logs: Review the SLT or replication logs to identify the specific changes that triggered the error. This can provide insights into what caused the replication to restart.

    2. Monitor Data Changes: If possible, try to limit the number of complex changes being made to the table during the replication process. Schedule bulk updates or schema changes during off-peak hours or when replication is paused.

    3. Adjust Replication Settings: Depending on your SLT configuration, you may be able to adjust settings related to how changes are captured and replicated. Consult the SLT documentation for options that may help manage complex changes.

    4. Restart Replication: If the replication has stopped, you may need to manually restart it. This can often be done through the SLT configuration interface.

    5. Consult SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance on handling complex changes during replication.

    6. Engage SAP Support: If the issue persists and you cannot identify the cause or solution, consider reaching out to SAP Support for assistance. They can provide more detailed analysis and recommendations based on your specific system configuration.

    Related Information:

    • SLT Documentation: Review the official SAP documentation for Landscape Transformation to understand how replication works and best practices for managing data changes.
    • Performance Tuning: Consider performance tuning for your SLT setup to handle larger data volumes and complex changes more effectively.
    • Data Consistency: Ensure that the data in the source and target systems remains consistent, especially after complex changes. Regularly validate the data to catch any discrepancies early.

By following these steps, you should be able to address the CNV_IUUC_REPLICATION107 error and improve the stability of your data replication processes.
