  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

There are <DS:TX.CNV_MBT_IMPLICIT_MERGE>implicit merges</> due to the
mapping of the company codes for number assignment.
If according to the mapping a company code for number assignment is
converted to a company code for number assignment that already exists,
these two company codes for number assignment are merged. If the
existing company code is not included in the mapping, this is an
    <DS:TX.CNV_MBT_IMPLICIT_MERGE>implicit merge</>, that is, a merge that
is not defined directly (explicitly) in the mapping, but follows
implicitly from the mapping and the existing company code for number
    assignment.
Example: Company code for number assignment A is renamed into B
(mapping: A -> B). However company code for number assignment B exists
already and is not meant to be changed into another company code for
number assignment. This would amount to an implicit merge of A and B.
For these <DS:TX.CNV_MBT_IMPLICIT_MERGE>implicit merges</>, the same
    checks as for explicit merges are required (mapping: A -> B; B -> B).
We require that all company codes for number assignment are included in
the mapping, which are part of an identified implicit merge.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CNV_20600_CHECK054 - Implicit merges due to mapping of company codes for number assignment ?

The SAP error message CNV_20600_CHECK054 typically occurs during data migration or conversion processes, particularly when using the SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit or similar tools. This error indicates that there are implicit merges happening due to the mapping of company codes for number assignment, which can lead to conflicts or inconsistencies in the data.

    Cause:

The error is generally caused by the following factors:

    1. Company Code Mapping: During the data migration process, if multiple company codes are mapped to the same number range or if there are overlaps in the number ranges assigned to different company codes, it can lead to implicit merges. This means that the system is trying to assign the same number to different entities, which is not allowed.

    2. Number Range Configuration: The configuration of number ranges for company codes may not be set up correctly, leading to conflicts when the system tries to assign numbers during the migration.

    3. Data Consistency Issues: If the source data has inconsistencies or if there are duplicate entries for company codes, this can also trigger the error.

    Solution:

To resolve the CNV_20600_CHECK054 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Review Company Code Mapping: Check the mapping of company codes in your migration settings. Ensure that each company code is mapped to a unique number range and that there are no overlaps.

    2. Adjust Number Ranges: Go to the number range configuration in SAP (Transaction Code: OBA7 for number range objects) and ensure that each company code has a distinct number range assigned. If necessary, create new number ranges to avoid conflicts.

    3. Data Cleansing: Review the source data for any inconsistencies or duplicates. Cleanse the data to ensure that there are no duplicate company codes or conflicting entries.

    4. Test Migration: After making the necessary adjustments, perform a test migration to verify that the error has been resolved. Monitor the logs for any further issues.

    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to the specific migration tool you are using for additional guidance on handling this error.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages (message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.

An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
