  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CNV_10510012 - Field RUNID (only two digits) has reached the maximum value (99) ?

The SAP error message CNV_10510012 indicates that the field RUNID, which is designed to hold a two-digit value, has reached its maximum limit of 99. This error typically occurs in the context of data migration or conversion processes, particularly when using SAP's data migration tools.

    Cause:

The RUNID field is often used to identify different runs of a migration or conversion process. Since it is limited to two digits, it can only hold values from 00 to 99. Once the process has been executed 100 times (or more), the field cannot accommodate any further runs, leading to this error.

    Solution:

To resolve this issue, you can take the following steps:

    1. Reset the RUNID: If possible, reset the RUNID counter. This may involve clearing previous migration runs or adjusting the configuration to allow for a new set of runs.

    2. Modify the Configuration: If you have control over the migration tool's configuration, check if there is an option to extend the RUNID field to accommodate more than two digits. This may involve customizing the migration program or using a different approach for tracking runs.

    3. Check for Existing Runs: Review the existing migration runs to see if there are any that can be deleted or consolidated. This can free up the RUNID space for new runs.

    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to the SAP documentation or notes related to the specific migration tool you are using. There may be specific guidelines or patches available that address this issue.

    5. Contact SAP Support: If the above solutions do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to SAP support for assistance. They may provide a patch or workaround specific to your version of the software.

    Related Information:

    • Migration Tools: This error is commonly associated with SAP's data migration tools, such as the SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit or other conversion tools.
    • Data Migration Best Practices: When performing data migrations, it's essential to plan for the number of runs and the potential limits of fields like RUNID. Consider implementing a strategy for managing and archiving migration runs.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional context on handling RUNID limitations.
