  • Show details Hide details
  • Optimization: Exclude fields which are also excluded from split
This optimization step checks for all table fields which are converted
in the controlling area merge (current package) if there has also been
a conversion in the controlling area split package before.
If a field has been set explicitly to NOTUSE='X' in the split then this
field will also be excluded from merge. For fields which are not
existing in CNVFIELDS for the split no changes are performed for the
    merge.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CNV20400212 - Optimization: Exclude fields that are also excluded from the split ?

The SAP error message CNV20400212 typically occurs during data migration or conversion processes, particularly when using the SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit or similar tools. This error indicates that there are fields in your data mapping that are being excluded from the migration process, but those same fields are also being excluded from a split operation. This can create a conflict in the data processing logic.

    Cause:

    1. Field Exclusion: The error arises when certain fields are marked for exclusion in the migration mapping, but the system is trying to process them in a way that requires those fields to be included (e.g., during a split operation).
    2. Mapping Configuration: There may be inconsistencies in the mapping configuration where fields are not properly aligned with the intended data transformation rules.
    3. Data Model Changes: Changes in the data model or structure between the source and target systems can lead to such conflicts, especially if certain fields are no longer relevant or have been deprecated.

    Solution:

    1. Review Mapping Configuration: Check the mapping configuration in the migration cockpit or the relevant data migration tool. Ensure that the fields that are excluded are not required for any operations that are being performed on the data.
    2. Adjust Field Exclusions: If certain fields are necessary for the split operation, consider including them in the mapping. If they are truly not needed, ensure that the split operation does not reference them.
    3. Consult Documentation: Refer to the SAP documentation for the specific migration tool you are using. There may be guidelines or best practices for handling field exclusions and splits.
    4. Test Migration: After making adjustments, perform a test migration to ensure that the changes resolve the error and that the data is being processed correctly.
    5. Seek Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP support or consulting with an SAP expert who can provide insights based on your specific scenario.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional context on handling field exclusions and splits.
    • Migration Cockpit Documentation: Review the official SAP documentation for the Migration Cockpit, which may provide additional troubleshooting steps or configuration tips.
    • Community Forums: Engage with SAP community forums or user groups where similar issues may have been discussed, and solutions shared.

By carefully reviewing the mapping and ensuring that the configuration aligns with the intended data processing logic, you should be able to resolve the CNV20400212 error.
