  • What causes this issue?

You cannot reassign the selected hierarchy node. There are various
    reasons for this:
    1. The selected node is an access node in the subtree of the hierarchy,
and you are trying to reassign this access node to one of its own
    lower-level nodes.
    2. The selected hierarchy node is assigned to a hierarchy node that is
    marked as a category.
In this case, the system checks the tree path to see if there is
already a node that is marked as a category.
If there is another node marked as a category already, you will not
be able to reassign the selected node.
    3. The new higher-level node of the node that you want to reassign, is
not in the subtree that you want to change. You are able to reassign
only nodes within a subtree that is processed in the detail
    maintenance.
    4. The target node is in the tree path of the hierarchy node that you
    want to reassign.
    5. The target hierarchy node corresponds to the source hierarchy node.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CMMD023 - You are not permitted to reassign hierachy node & ?

The SAP error message CMMD023, which states "You are not permitted to reassign hierarchy node &," typically occurs when a user attempts to reassign a hierarchy node in a master data structure (like a cost center or profit center hierarchy) but lacks the necessary authorizations to perform that action.

    Cause:

    1. Authorization Issues: The user does not have the required permissions to reassign the specified hierarchy node. This could be due to missing roles or authorizations in the user's profile.
    2. Hierarchy Locking: The hierarchy node may be locked for changes by another user or process, preventing reassignment.
    3. Node Ownership: The user may not be the owner of the hierarchy node or may not have the necessary rights to modify it.

    Solution:

    1. Check Authorizations:

      • Review the user's roles and authorizations in the SAP system. Ensure that the user has the necessary permissions to perform hierarchy node reassignments.
      • You can use transaction code SU53 to check for authorization failures after the error occurs.

      • If the user lacks the necessary authorizations, contact your SAP security team or system administrator to request the required permissions.
    3. Check Hierarchy Status:

      • Verify if the hierarchy node is currently locked or being edited by another user. If so, wait until the lock is released or coordinate with the user who has the lock.
    4. Review Node Ownership:

      • Ensure that the user is authorized to modify the specific hierarchy node. If the node is owned by another user or department, you may need to coordinate with them for the reassignment.
