- The entries must not overlap ?The SAP error message CMM_TRM_DEND024, which states "The entries must not overlap," typically occurs in the context of managing time periods or date ranges in SAP, particularly in modules related to project management, resource management, or time management. This error indicates that there are overlapping entries in the data you are trying to input or modify, which is not allowed.
Cause:
- Overlapping Date Ranges: The most common cause of this error is that the date ranges for two or more entries overlap. For example, if you are trying to create or modify a project or resource allocation that has a start and end date that conflicts with an existing entry, this error will be triggered.
- Incorrect Data Entry: Sometimes, the error can arise from simple data entry mistakes, such as entering the wrong dates or not properly closing previous entries.
- Configuration Issues: In some cases, the system configuration may not allow overlapping entries due to business rules or settings defined in the system.
Solution:
- Check Existing Entries: Review the existing entries in the relevant table or transaction to identify any overlaps. You can do this by checking the start and end dates of the entries in question.
- Adjust Dates: Modify the start and/or end dates of the new entry you are trying to create or update so that they do not overlap with existing entries. Ensure that the new date range is distinct and does not conflict with any existing records.
- Delete or Archive Conflicting Entries: If the overlapping entries are no longer needed, consider deleting or archiving them to resolve the conflict.
- Consult Documentation: Review the relevant SAP documentation or help files for specific guidelines on managing date ranges and entries in the module you are working with.
- System Configuration: If you believe the configuration settings are causing the issue, consult with your SAP administrator or technical team to review the settings related to date management.
