  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CM_SUB_MLI009 - Template used in relationship; identifiers cannot be changed ?

The SAP error message CM_SUB_MLI009 indicates that there is an issue with a template used in a relationship where the identifiers cannot be changed. This typically occurs in the context of managing relationships in SAP, particularly in modules related to Master Data Management or Customer Relationship Management.

    Cause:

    1. Template Locking: The template you are trying to modify is locked or in use, preventing changes to its identifiers.
    2. Data Integrity: SAP enforces data integrity rules that prevent changes to certain identifiers once they are associated with a relationship template.
    3. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings that restrict changes to identifiers in templates.
    4. Authorization Issues: The user may not have the necessary permissions to make changes to the template.

    Solution:

    1. Check Template Status: Verify if the template is currently in use or locked. If it is, you may need to wait until it is released or unlock it if you have the necessary permissions.
    2. Review Relationships: Ensure that the identifiers you are trying to change are not actively being used in any relationships. If they are, you may need to remove or modify those relationships first.
    3. Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or help files related to the specific module you are working with to understand the rules governing template identifiers.
    4. User Permissions: Check if your user role has the necessary permissions to modify templates. If not, contact your SAP administrator to request the required access.
    5. Create a New Template: If changing the identifiers is not possible, consider creating a new template with the desired identifiers instead of modifying the existing one.
