Message text: Conflict may occur beween time effectivity and parameter effectivity
You want to use a change number with time effectivity to change an
object. However, the class type or characteristic you are using also
allows you to use change numbers with parameter effectivity.
If you want to change an object that has been changed with effectivity
type TIME, the changes you want to make now may not be effective under
certain circumstances, because parameter effectivity has a higher
priority - even if the dates for effectivity type TIME are before the
valid-from date of the change number.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Check carefully and use a change number with parameter effectivity
instead of a change number with time effecitivity, if appropriate.

CL174
- Conflict may occur beween time effectivity and parameter effectivity ?The SAP error message CL174 indicates a conflict between time effectivity and parameter effectivity in the context of classification and variant configuration. This error typically arises when there are inconsistencies in the validity periods of characteristics or values assigned to a class or object.
Cause:
Time Effectivity: This refers to the validity period of a characteristic or value. If a characteristic is set to be valid only for a specific time frame, and there are conflicting values or characteristics that are also time-dependent, this can lead to conflicts.
Parameter Effectivity: This refers to the validity of parameters or characteristics in the context of variant configuration. If a parameter is defined with a specific validity period that overlaps or conflicts with another parameter's validity, it can trigger this error.
Inconsistent Configuration: If the configuration of a product or class has been set up in a way that the time and parameter effectivity do not align, this error will occur.
Solution:
Review Validity Periods: Check the validity periods of the characteristics and parameters involved. Ensure that there are no overlaps or conflicts in the time frames defined for each characteristic.
Adjust Effectivity Settings: Modify the effectivity settings for the conflicting characteristics or parameters. This may involve changing the start and end dates or adjusting the parameters to ensure they do not conflict.
Check Class and Object Configuration: Review the configuration of the class and the objects associated with it. Ensure that all characteristics and parameters are correctly defined and that their effectivity aligns.
Use Transaction Codes: Utilize relevant transaction codes (like CL02 for changing classes or CL03 for displaying classes) to review and modify the class settings.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for detailed guidance on managing effectivity in classification and variant configuration.
Related Information:
By carefully reviewing and adjusting the effectivity settings, you should be able to resolve the CL174 error and ensure that your classification and variant configuration work as intended.
