CHCL028
- The new class &1 does not contain all characteristics of the old class &2 ?The SAP error message CHCL028 indicates that there is an issue with class characteristics during a class change or transfer process. Specifically, it means that the new class you are trying to create or assign does not contain all the characteristics that were present in the old class. This can occur when you are attempting to change the class type or when you are trying to assign an object to a new class that has fewer characteristics than the original class.
Cause:
- Missing Characteristics: The new class does not have all the characteristics that the old class had. This can happen if the new class is defined with fewer characteristics or if certain characteristics were not included during the class definition.
- Class Type Mismatch: If you are trying to change the class type (e.g., from a general class to a specific class), the new class may not support all the characteristics of the old class.
- Incorrect Class Assignment: The object you are trying to assign to the new class may require certain characteristics that are not present in the new class.
Solution:
Review Class Definitions: Check the definition of both the old and new classes. Ensure that the new class includes all the necessary characteristics that the old class had.
- Go to the class maintenance transaction (e.g., CL02) and compare the characteristics of both classes.
Modify the New Class: If the new class is missing characteristics, you can add the required characteristics to the new class.
- Use transaction CL02 to add the missing characteristics to the new class.
Re-evaluate Class Change: If the new class is fundamentally different and cannot accommodate the required characteristics, consider whether the class change is necessary or if you need to keep the object in the old class.
Check Object Assignment: Ensure that the object you are trying to assign to the new class is compatible with the new class's characteristics.
Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or help resources for additional guidance on class characteristics and their implications.
Related Information:
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the error and ensure that the new class is properly defined to accommodate the necessary characteristics.
