  • Using the trace log
The trace log tells you which conditions the change statuses of the
objects are effective under. This information is particularly helpful
when you are dealing with complex changes so that you can follow up why
change objects with a certain change status are selected.
The log is created for the following change conditions:
Changes with date effectrivity (<LS>Valid-from</> date)
Changes with parameter effectivity (for example, serial no.
    effectivity)
    Activating the function
You can switch the trace log on and off in the Engineering Change
    Management menu (<LS>Environment -> Trace on/off</>).
    Outline of the trace log
    RESET N1
<ZH>Settings in Customizing for Engineering Change Mnagement</>
The log shows whether the following indicators are set under control
    data in Customizing
    <DS:DE.CC_VTNEW>Parameter effectivity is active</>
    <DS:DE.CC_RLACT>Release is active</>
    <DS:DE.CC_RANG>Rank is active</>
Depending on whether an indicator is set or not, the appropriate data
is displayed in the <ZH>list of change numbers</>. If, for example, the
<LS>Rank is active</> indicator is set, the list contains the
    <LS>Rank</> field.
    <ZH>Assigning values to the parameters</>
The system lists all the <DS:DE.CC_EFFP>effectivity parameters</> that
have values assigned to them in the current processing situation.
The value assignment can have taken place as follows:
User entry (<LS>Parameter entry</> dialog box)
Example: material D7000 and serial number 200
Automatic derivation from the change number
    <ZH>List of change numbers</>
The system lists all the change numbers that the object has been
    processed with.
You receive the following information for each change master record:
<LS>Display key</> for release and selection
You can use this function to determine the color of the display for the
    release status and selection.
For example, the choice of color shows whether a change number is
effective and has been selected because of its release key. The system
also takes into account whether you have just simulated the value
assignment for the effectivity as default entry.
    <LS>Effectivity data</>
This function shows which conditions a change with reference to a
certain change number is effective under.
You can make the foillowing entries:
<LS>Valid-from</> date for a change master record that has been
    maintained with date effectivity
<LS>Parameters</> and their values for a change master record that you
    have maintained with parameter effectivity
    Example:
Change master record with effectivity type SERNR (serial no. interval)
The effectivity data shows the material number and the upper and lower
limits of the serial number interval
    <DS:DE.CC_EFFT>Effectivity type</>
    <DS:DE.CC_EFPR>Priority</> (<LS>Pr</>)
    <DS:DE.CC_AERNG>Rank</>
    <DS:DE.CC_AEDIF>Internal counter</>
Multi-level nesting of the trace log
You receive a multi-level trace log in the following processing
    situations:
You are processing a hierarchical object (for example, a level-by-level
BOM, a multi-level BOM). The object has been processed with reference
to change numbers on several explosion levels.
At least one change number has been determined on the uppermost
explosion level and its effectivity data is the same as the values for
the effectivity parameters (for example, <LS>Parameter effectivity</>
    dialog box).
The log is created with the same outline for each explosion level.
    <ZH>Selecting a valid change number</>
If the effectivity data of more than one change number coincides with
the values assigned to the effectivity parameters, the system checks
    the <DS:DE.CC_EFPR>priority</> (<LS>Pr</>).
    The change number with
the <ZH>highest</> priority is selected as being effective.
This change number is shown in the key as follows: Change number is
effective and has been selected (shown in yellow in the standard
    system).
a <ZH>lower</> priority is shown as being a valid change number but the
changes made with reference to this change number are <ZH>not</> taken
    into account in the explosion.
This change number is shown in the key as follows: Change number is
valid and has not been selected (shown in green in the standard
    system).
    <ZH>Calling the next explosion level</>
If at least one valid change number has been selected for the current
explosion level (shown in yellow in the standard system), the explosion
can be carried on in the next explosion level with the <LS>Continue</>
    function.
