    Cause:

    1. Long-term Lock: The error message suggests that a long-term lock was in place for a specific step in a process. This could happen due to:

      • A previous process instance that did not complete successfully.
      • A manual intervention that left the step in a locked state.
      • System errors or crashes that left locks in place.

    2. Manual Unlocking: If necessary, you may need to manually unlock the step. This can typically be done through transaction codes like:

      • SWI1: To check workflow instances and their statuses.
      • SWI2_FREQ: To analyze workflow instances.
      • SWI2_DURA: To check for long-running workflows.
    3. Restart the Process: After ensuring that the lock has been cleared, you can attempt to restart the process or the specific step that was locked.
