  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CA_CHECK_DATE002 - No authorization for displaying data from this period ?

The SAP error message CA_CHECK_DATE002 indicates that a user does not have the necessary authorization to display data for a specific period. This typically occurs in the context of financial or controlling modules where access to certain time periods is restricted based on user roles and authorizations.

    Cause:

    1. Authorization Issues: The user lacks the required authorization object that allows access to the specified period. This can be due to missing roles or insufficient permissions assigned to the user.
    2. Period Locking: The period in question may be locked for posting or reporting, which can also restrict access to data.
    3. User Role Configuration: The user’s role may not include access to the specific data or time frame being queried.

    Solution:

    1. Check User Authorizations:

      • Use transaction code SU53 immediately after encountering the error to see which authorization check failed. This will provide insight into what specific authorization object is missing.
      • Review the user’s roles and authorizations in transaction SU01 (User Maintenance) or PFCG (Role Maintenance) to ensure they have the necessary permissions.
    2. Adjust Roles:

      • If the required authorization is missing, you may need to modify the user’s roles or create a new role that includes the necessary authorizations for the specific period.
      • Ensure that the authorization objects related to the relevant modules (e.g., controlling, financial accounting) are included in the user’s roles.
    3. Check Period Status:

      • Verify if the period is open for posting or reporting. You can check this in the relevant configuration settings or by consulting with the finance or controlling team.
      • If the period is closed, you may need to request that it be reopened or that the user be granted temporary access.
    4. Consult with Security Team:

      • If you are not authorized to make changes to user roles or authorizations, contact your SAP security team or administrator for assistance in resolving the issue.

    Related Information:

    • Authorization Objects: Common authorization objects that may be relevant include S_TCODE (Transaction Codes), S_USER_AUTH (User Authorizations), and specific objects related to financial and controlling data access.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with transaction codes like SU53 for authorization checks, SU01 for user maintenance, and PFCG for role management.
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or your organization’s internal guidelines for managing user roles and authorizations.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the error and implement a solution to resolve the authorization issue.
