Message class: C4 - CTMS_SYNTAX_CHECK
Message number: 005
Message text: & does not allow interval values
Interval values are not allowed. Only absolute values can be entered.
When you maintain a characteristic, you use the <LS>Interval values
allowed</> indicator to define whether you can assign intervals as
values to the characteristic. This indicator is not selected for this
characteristic.
Interval values are only allowed for multiple-value characteristics,
because the system interprets intervals as a series of individual
values - even if you have set this indicator in the characteristic.
If you want to use interval values for a multiple-value characteristic,
select the indicator in the characteristic.

C4005
- & does not allow interval values ?The SAP error message C4005 typically indicates that there is an issue with the input values in a transaction or report, particularly when it comes to interval values. This error often arises in the context of data entry or configuration where the system expects a specific format or range of values.
Cause:
- Invalid Interval Values: The error usually occurs when the values entered do not conform to the expected format or range. For example, if you are trying to enter a date range or a numerical range, and the start value is greater than the end value, this error will be triggered.
- Data Type Mismatch: If the system expects a certain data type (e.g., numeric, date) and receives a different type, it can lead to this error.
- Configuration Issues: Sometimes, the error can stem from incorrect configuration settings in the system that do not allow for the specified intervals.
Solution:
- Check Input Values: Review the values you are entering to ensure they are within the acceptable range and in the correct format. For example, if you are entering a date range, ensure that the start date is earlier than the end date.
- Data Type Verification: Ensure that the data types of the values you are entering match the expected types. For instance, if a field expects a numeric value, make sure you are not entering text or special characters.
- Review Configuration Settings: If you have access to the configuration settings, check if there are any restrictions or settings that might be causing the issue. Adjust them if necessary.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help files related to the specific transaction or report you are working with to understand the expected input formats and constraints.
- Contact Support: If the issue persists after checking the above points, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert for further assistance.
