The SAP error message C2359, which states "No storage location maintained for reservation item &1," typically occurs when there is an issue with the storage location assignment for a reservation item in the SAP system. This error can arise in various scenarios, such as during goods movements, inventory management, or when trying to fulfill a reservation.
Cause:
- Missing Storage Location: The most common cause is that the reservation item does not have a storage location assigned to it. This can happen if the material master data is incomplete or if the reservation was created without specifying a storage location.
- Incorrect Configuration: There may be configuration issues in the material master or the plant settings that prevent the system from recognizing the storage location.
- Material Type Restrictions: Certain material types may have restrictions that prevent them from being assigned to a storage location.
- Data Inconsistencies: There could be inconsistencies in the data related to the material, plant, or storage location.
Solution:
- Check Reservation Details: Review the reservation details to ensure that a valid storage location is specified. You can do this by navigating to the reservation in the SAP GUI and checking the item details.
- Maintain Storage Location in Material Master:
- Go to the Material Master (Transaction Code: MM02).
- Enter the material number and select the appropriate plant.
- Ensure that the storage location is maintained in the relevant views (e.g., Plant Data/Storage).
- Create or Update the Reservation: If the reservation was created without a storage location, you may need to delete the existing reservation and create a new one, ensuring that the storage location is specified.
- Check Configuration: If the issue persists, check the configuration settings for the material and plant to ensure that they are set up correctly to allow for storage location assignments.
- Consult with SAP Basis or Functional Team: If you are unable to resolve the issue, it may be necessary to consult with your SAP Basis or functional team for further investigation into the configuration and data integrity.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages
(message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.
An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
