  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

Nodes in a hierarchy which are described by intervals of leaves are
resolved into a set of leaves which are in the master data. The
technical runtime representation of the hierarchy therefore only
    contains leaves and not intervals.
The system tries to find the parent node of characteristic value "&V1&".
This is not found, although the technical representation of the
hierarchy should contain all possible master data values.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    System Response

    How to fix this error?

Characteristic value "&V1&" is returned from InfoProvider &V3&, but is
not available in the master data. Check the InfoProvider data and master
    data.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message BRAIN_DEV079 - Characteristic value "&1" of &2 not available in master data ?

The SAP error message BRAIN_DEV079 indicates that a specific characteristic value is not available in the master data for the specified characteristic. This error typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BI (Business Intelligence) when trying to execute a query or report that relies on certain characteristics and their values.

    Cause:

    1. Missing Master Data: The characteristic value you are trying to use in your query does not exist in the master data table for that characteristic.
    2. Data Load Issues: There may have been issues during the data loading process, resulting in incomplete or missing master data.
    3. Incorrect Query Design: The query may be designed to filter or display data based on a characteristic value that is not relevant or does not exist in the current context.
    4. Data Activation: The master data might not have been activated after being loaded into the system.

    Solution:

    1. Check Master Data: Verify if the characteristic value exists in the master data. You can do this by navigating to the relevant master data table in the SAP BW system (e.g., using transaction code RSD1 for InfoObjects).
    2. Load Missing Data: If the characteristic value is missing, you may need to load the relevant master data. This can be done by executing the data load process for the InfoObject associated with the characteristic.
    3. Data Activation: Ensure that the master data has been activated. You can check this in the Data Warehousing Workbench or by using transaction codes like RSMO or RSPC.
    4. Review Query Design: If the query is incorrectly designed, review the filters and selections to ensure they are appropriate and that they reference valid characteristic values.
    5. Check for Data Consistency: Ensure that the data in the InfoProvider is consistent with the master data. You may need to run consistency checks or reprocess the data if discrepancies are found.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as RSD1 (InfoObject maintenance), RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench), and RSPC (Process Chain maintenance).
    • Master Data Tables: Understand the structure of master data tables in SAP BW, as they store the characteristic values and their attributes.
    • Data Load Monitoring: Use transaction codes like RSMO (Monitor Data Load) to check the status of data loads and identify any errors that may have occurred during the process.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message, as they may provide additional insights or solutions.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the BRAIN_DEV079 error and implement the necessary solutions to resolve it.
