Message text: Applied condition "&4" does not return a unique result
The TOP or BOTTOM condition "&V4&" does not return a unique result.
Another &V1& values with the same rank are outside the limit. To obtain
a unique result, the threshold of the limit must be modified from &V2&
to &V3&.
For the conditions
Top Number
Top %
Top Total
Bottom Number
Bottom n Percent
Bottom Total
the result is not unique if the last row in the result set and
subsequent rows outside the result set have the same key figure value.
The following example illustrates this using a Top 2 condition. The
query returns the following rows that the condition is applied on
(display: <(><<)>characteristic value> : <(><<)>key figure value>):
A: 10
B: 5
C: 5
D: 3
There are two correct result sets for condition Top 2:
A: 10
B: 5
and
A: 10
C: 5
Modify condition "&V4&" accordingly.

- Applied condition "&4" does not return a unique result ?The SAP error message BRAIN557, which states "Applied condition '&4' does not return a unique result," typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BI (Business Intelligence) when a query is executed, and the system is unable to determine a unique result based on the applied conditions or filters.
Cause:
- Ambiguous Conditions: The condition specified in the query may not be specific enough to return a single result. This can happen if the condition is based on a characteristic that has multiple values in the data set.
- Data Model Issues: There may be issues with the underlying data model, such as duplicate entries or incorrect relationships between data objects.
- Incorrect Query Design: The query may be designed in a way that does not properly aggregate or filter the data, leading to multiple possible results.
- Missing Key Figures: If the query is missing key figures that are necessary for aggregation, it may lead to ambiguous results.
Solution:
- Review the Condition: Check the condition specified in the query. Ensure that it is specific enough to return a unique result. You may need to add additional filters or modify existing ones.
- Check Data Consistency: Verify the underlying data for duplicates or inconsistencies. Ensure that the data model is correctly set up and that relationships between dimensions and facts are properly defined.
- Modify Query Design: Adjust the query design to ensure that it aggregates data correctly. This may involve adding key figures or changing the structure of the query.
- Use Aggregation: If applicable, use aggregation functions to summarize the data in a way that ensures a unique result.
- Test with Sample Data: Run the query with a smaller subset of data to see if the issue persists. This can help isolate the problem.
