Message text: InfoObject &1 must be selected uniquely in all cells
InfoObject &V1& (&V2&) has the setting in the metadata (COB_PRO-CHSEL =
2) that a unique value has to be determined in every cell. This is not
the case for selection element &V3& or the fixed filter.
The change to the metadata was probably made after the query was
defined.(You can access this setting in the InfoObject maintenance on
the <ZK>Business Explorer</> tab page, under the group heading <ZK>
General Settings</> -><ZK> Selection</> ; or in InfoCube maintenance,
via <ZK>Extras</> -> <ZK>Structure-specific InfoObject Properties</> ->
<ZK>Selection</>.)
The query cannot be generated nor executed.
Characteristic &V1& must set to a unique value in the fixed filter or in
each selection element of the structure/ in all exception cells. You
can do this using a parameter variable with mandatory entry. You can
also use characteristic &V1& as a free characteristic.
Alternatively, you can change the settings for characteristic &V1& in
the InfoObject maintenance, or the settings for this InfoCube in the
InfoCube maintenance.

BRAIN431
- InfoObject &1 must be selected uniquely in all cells ?The SAP error message BRAIN431 indicates that there is an issue with the selection of an InfoObject in a query or report. Specifically, it means that the InfoObject specified (denoted as &1 in the error message) must be uniquely selected across all cells in the context of the query or report being executed. This typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BI (Business Intelligence) when working with queries in BEx (Business Explorer).
Cause:
The error arises when:
- The InfoObject is not uniquely defined in the context of the query. This can happen if multiple values for the InfoObject are selected, or if the InfoObject is not properly filtered.
- The query is designed in such a way that it requires a single value for the InfoObject, but the current selection includes multiple values or is ambiguous.
Solution:
To resolve the BRAIN431 error, you can take the following steps:
Check the Query Design:
- Open the query in the BEx Query Designer.
- Ensure that the InfoObject in question is set to allow only a single selection. You can do this by checking the properties of the InfoObject in the query.
Modify the Selection:
- If you are executing the query, go to the selection screen and ensure that you are selecting only one value for the InfoObject. If multiple values are selected, change it to a single value.
Review Filters and Variables:
- Check if there are any filters or variables applied to the InfoObject that might be causing ambiguity. Ensure that they are set correctly to allow for a unique selection.
Check for Hierarchies:
- If the InfoObject is part of a hierarchy, ensure that the selection is made at the correct level of the hierarchy to avoid ambiguity.
Test the Query:
- After making the necessary adjustments, test the query again to see if the error persists.
Related Information:
If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to consult with a BW consultant or check SAP Notes for any specific patches or updates related to this error.
