  • What causes this issue?

A query with non-cumulative key figures requires calculation of
non-cumulative values for more than 2000 times. This cause of this is
usually the fact that you have a very large validity period without
having a time restriction in the query. The missing time restriction can
especially lead to problems with the AVERAGE exception aggregation.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

Restrict the query to a reasonable time interval.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message BRAIN132 - Variable &2 is not permitted for the source currency ?

The SAP error message BRAIN132, which states "Variable &2 is not permitted for the source currency," typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BI (Business Intelligence) when working with queries or reports that involve currency conversion or currency-related variables.

    Cause:

This error usually arises due to one of the following reasons:

    1. Currency Settings: The variable you are trying to use is not compatible with the source currency defined in your query or report. This can happen if the variable is set to a currency that is not allowed for the specific data source or InfoProvider.

    2. Variable Configuration: The variable may not be properly configured to handle the source currency. For example, if the variable is set to a specific currency type (like local currency) but the data source is in a different currency type (like group currency), this mismatch can trigger the error.

    3. Data Source Limitations: The underlying data source (like an InfoCube or DataStore Object) may have restrictions on which currencies can be used with certain variables.

    Solution:

To resolve the BRAIN132 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Variable Settings:

      • Go to the variable settings in the query designer or report.
      • Ensure that the variable is configured to accept the source currency being used in the query.
    2. Review Currency Configuration:

      • Check the currency settings in the InfoProvider or the underlying data model.
      • Make sure that the source currency is compatible with the variable you are trying to use.
    3. Adjust Query Properties:

      • In the query designer, review the properties of the query and ensure that the currency settings align with the variables being used.
      • If necessary, modify the query to use a different variable that is compatible with the source currency.
    4. Test with Different Currencies:

      • If possible, test the query with different source currencies to see if the error persists. This can help identify if the issue is specific to a certain currency.
    5. Consult Documentation:

      • Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on currency handling in BW/BI queries.
    6. Contact Support:

      • If the issue persists after checking the above points, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP BW expert for further assistance.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address this specific error or provide additional context.
    • Currency Types: Familiarize yourself with the different currency types in SAP (e.g., local currency, group currency, hard currency) and how they interact with variables in queries.
