  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

Archiving jobs still exist for session &V1&.

    System Response

The management data for session &V1& will not be archived.

    How to fix this error?

The managment data to be archived will not be archived until the job
overview for the selected sessions is free of any entries. To view the
session information use transaction SARA and click on the push button
'Job Overview'. Delete any entries in the job overview. Return to the
initial screen and go to archive management; this step is especially
important if you deleted the jobs using transaction SM37, instead of
going through transaction SARA and Job Overview. ADK uses this step to
update its internal data for the different archiving jobs. You must
carry out the aforementioned steps for every archiving object for which
you want to archive management data.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message BA400 - Run &1 still contains archving jobs ?

The SAP error message BA400 indicates that a particular run (in this case, identified by &1) still contains archiving jobs that have not been completed or processed. This error typically arises in the context of data archiving processes within SAP, where the system is trying to finalize or delete a run that is still associated with ongoing archiving jobs.

    Cause:

    1. Incomplete Archiving Jobs: The archiving jobs associated with the run have not yet finished processing.
    2. Job Status: The jobs may be in a status that prevents the run from being finalized (e.g., they could be in a "scheduled," "active," or "error" state).
    3. Database Locks: There may be locks on the database that prevent the completion of the archiving jobs.
    4. Configuration Issues: There could be configuration issues in the archiving settings that are causing jobs to hang or not execute properly.

    Solution:

    1. Check Job Status: Use transaction code SM37 to check the status of the archiving jobs associated with the run. Look for jobs that are still running or have failed.
    2. Complete or Cancel Jobs: If the jobs are still running, wait for them to complete. If they are stuck or have failed, you may need to cancel them and restart the archiving process.
    3. Review Logs: Check the job logs for any errors or warnings that might indicate why the jobs are not completing. This can provide insight into what needs to be addressed.
    4. Database Locks: If there are database locks, you may need to resolve those by identifying the locking sessions and either waiting for them to release or terminating them if appropriate.
    5. Re-run Archiving: After resolving any issues, you may need to re-run the archiving jobs to ensure that they complete successfully.
    6. Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or notes related to archiving processes for any specific guidance or troubleshooting steps.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as SARA (Archive Administration) for managing archiving objects and SM37 for monitoring job statuses.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to archiving jobs and the BA400 error message.
    • System Performance: Ensure that the system performance is adequate, as slow performance can sometimes lead to jobs taking longer than expected to complete.
    • Archiving Strategy: Review your archiving strategy and settings to ensure they are configured correctly for your business needs.

If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP Basis team or reach out to SAP support for further assistance.
