Message text: Extrapolation factor &1 exceeds permissible maximum value
In document extrapolation, the amounts and quantities of a billing
document are extrapolated by multiplying them by an adjustment factor
for the simulation period. The adjustment factor is the relationship of
the weighting totals from the simulation period with the old billing
period. This factor should not be too large, because otherwise the
document extrapolation will not supply any reliable values.
When extrapolating billing document &V2&, an adjustment factor &V1& was
determined for bill line &V3&. This adjustment factor exceeds the
maximum permissible value of &V4&.
Document extrapolation is cancelled.

AUR054
- Extrapolation factor &1 exceeds permissible maximum value ?The SAP error message AUR054, which states "Extrapolation factor &1 exceeds permissible maximum value," typically occurs in the context of SAP's Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO) module, particularly when dealing with demand planning or forecasting.
Cause:
The error arises when the extrapolation factor used in a forecasting model exceeds the maximum limit set in the system. This can happen due to:
- Data Issues: The historical data used for forecasting may have anomalies or outliers that lead to an excessively high extrapolation factor.
- Configuration Settings: The maximum permissible value for the extrapolation factor may be set too low in the system configuration.
- Model Selection: The forecasting model being used may not be suitable for the data set, leading to unrealistic extrapolation factors.
Solution:
To resolve the AUR054 error, you can take the following steps:
Review Historical Data: Check the historical data for any anomalies or outliers that could be affecting the extrapolation factor. Clean or adjust the data as necessary.
Adjust Extrapolation Factor: If the extrapolation factor is indeed valid but exceeds the maximum limit, consider adjusting the maximum permissible value in the configuration settings. This can usually be done in the forecasting settings within the SAP APO system.
Change Forecasting Model: If the current forecasting model is not suitable for the data, consider switching to a different model that may yield more reasonable extrapolation factors.
Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on setting the extrapolation factor and understanding its implications.
Testing: After making adjustments, run the forecasting process again to see if the error persists.
