  • Message class: AQ - Message texts for SAP Query

  • Message text: Choose a different query name (report & already exists)

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

A report is generated from the specifications you make when defining
the layout of your query list. The name of this report always begins
with AQ, while the subsequent characters provide information about the
user group, the client and the query itself. These report names are
protected, i.e. they are reserved for ABAP/4 Query and cannot be used
    for other purposes.
You attempted to create a query that would generate a report which
already exists. For this reason, you cannot create a query with this
name, since it would overwrite an existing report.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

First, check which user owns the report specified in the message and
why this name was chosen. Then, try to get the report deleted or
renamed, so that you are not restricted in your choice of query names.
If this is not possible, you cannot create a query with this name.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message AQ115 - Choose a different query name (report & already exists) ?

The SAP error message AQ115 ("Choose a different query name (report & already exists)") typically occurs when you are trying to create a new query or report in SAP that has the same name as an existing one. This can happen in various SAP modules, particularly in the context of SAP Query or SAP Report Painter.

    Cause:

    1. Duplicate Query Name: The primary cause of this error is that the name you are trying to assign to your new query or report is already in use by another query or report in the system.
    2. Namespace Conflicts: If you are working in a shared environment, it is possible that another user has created a query with the same name.
    3. Transport Issues: If queries are transported between systems, there may be conflicts if the same name exists in both the source and target systems.

    Solution:

    1. Choose a Unique Name: The simplest solution is to select a different name for your query or report. Ensure that the name is unique within the context of the SAP system.
    2. Check Existing Queries: Before creating a new query, check the list of existing queries to see if the name you want to use is already taken. You can do this by navigating to the relevant transaction (e.g., SQ01 for SAP Query) and searching for existing queries.
    3. Modify Existing Query: If the existing query is similar to what you want to create, consider modifying the existing query instead of creating a new one.
    4. Use a Naming Convention: Implement a naming convention that includes identifiers (like your initials, department code, or date) to avoid conflicts with existing names.
    5. Consult with Colleagues: If you are in a collaborative environment, check with your colleagues to see if they are using the same query name.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as SQ01 (SAP Query), SQ02 (InfoSet), and SQ03 (User Groups) to manage queries effectively.
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help files for guidelines on naming conventions and best practices for creating queries and reports.
    • User Authorizations: Ensure you have the necessary authorizations to create or modify queries in the SAP system.
    • System Administration: If you are an administrator, consider reviewing the system for any naming conflicts and possibly renaming or archiving old queries that are no longer in use.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the AQ115 error and successfully create your query or report in SAP.
