This can happen in various scenarios, such as during the planning process, when trying to create a purchase order, or when executing a demand planning run.
Causes:
- Missing Master Data: The relevant master data (like material master, vendor master, or source list) may not be properly maintained or may be missing.

- Stock Availability: There may be no stock available at the identified sources, or the stock may not meet the required criteria (e.g., location, batch).
- Planning Version: The planning version being used may not have the necessary data or settings to identify a source of supply.
- Product Allocation: If product allocation is in place, it may restrict the availability of certain sources of supply.
Solutions:
- Check Master Data: Ensure that the material master, vendor master, and source list are correctly maintained. Verify that the relevant data is active and correctly configured.
- Review Planning Parameters: Check the planning parameters for the product in the APO system. Ensure that they are set up correctly to allow for sourcing.
- Update Source List: If the source list is missing or incorrect, update it to include valid sources of supply for the material.
- Check Stock Levels: Verify the stock levels at the identified sources to ensure that there is sufficient stock available to meet the demand.
- Validate Planning Version: Ensure that the correct planning version is being used and that it contains the necessary data for sourcing.
- Examine Product Allocation: If product allocation is being used, review the allocation settings to ensure that they are not preventing the identification of valid sources.
