  • Message number: 023

  • Message text: & : Differing period controls in one depreciation key

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

When you use changeover method '1', the system compares the
depreciation for phase 1 in each year with the depreciation that would
result in phase 2. In the acquisition year, the system sets the
depreciation start date according to the period control in phase 2 when
    it makes this comparison.
If the depreciation start date according to the period control of phase
2 is before the depreciation start date according to the period control
of phase 1, and the multiplication factor is relatively small, this can
cause a changeover that takes place already in the acquisition year.
If, in the above case, you do not want the changeover to take place in
the acquisition year, you have to enter the same period control in
phase 2 as you entered in phase 1.

    System Response

    The data is saved.

    How to fix this error?

If necessary, change the period control so that it is the same both
    before and after the changeover.
This message relates to entry &v1& (chart of depreciation, depreciation
key, depreciation type, depreciation phase). Before the changeover
using method 1, period control &v3& is used in depreciation key &v2&.
After the changeover, period control &v4& is used.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message ACRSL023 - & : Differing period controls in one depreciation key ?

The SAP error message ACRSL023 indicates that there are differing period controls in one depreciation key. This typically occurs in the Asset Accounting (FI-AA) module when there are inconsistencies in the configuration of the depreciation key used for asset depreciation.

    Cause:

The error arises when the system detects that the same depreciation key has been assigned different period controls for different asset classes or for different periods. This can happen due to:

    1. Configuration Issues: The depreciation key may have been incorrectly configured in the system, leading to different settings for the same key.
    2. Asset Class Assignment: The depreciation key might be assigned to multiple asset classes with differing period controls.
    3. Changes in Configuration: If changes were made to the depreciation key settings after assets were already created, it could lead to inconsistencies.

    Solution:

To resolve the ACRSL023 error, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Depreciation Key Configuration:

      • Go to the configuration settings for the depreciation key in the SAP system (Transaction code: OADB).
      • Verify that the period control settings are consistent across all asset classes that use this depreciation key.
    2. Review Asset Classes:

      • Check the asset classes assigned to the depreciation key and ensure that they all have the same period control settings.
      • If necessary, adjust the settings to ensure uniformity.
    3. Adjust Asset Master Records:

      • If the depreciation key has been changed, you may need to adjust the asset master records that use this key. This can be done using Transaction code: AS02 (Change Asset Master Record).
      • Ensure that the assets are using the correct depreciation key and that the settings are consistent.
    4. Consult Documentation:

      • Review SAP documentation or consult with your SAP support team for specific guidance on the depreciation key settings and their implications.
    5. Testing:

      • After making changes, perform a test run to ensure that the error is resolved and that the depreciation calculations are functioning correctly.

    Related Information:

    • Depreciation Key: A depreciation key defines how an asset is depreciated over time, including the method of depreciation, useful life, and period control.
    • Period Control: This refers to how depreciation is calculated and posted in different periods (e.g., monthly, yearly).
