Message type: E = Error
Message class: ACE_MIG - Accrual Engine migration: Messages from migration
Message number: 008
Message text: &1/&4/&2: You can't use derivation rules across acctg princpls in S/4
With the former accrual engine<(>,<)> it was possible to define
derivation rules for derived accrual types that could be used across
accounting principles. This was done using Customizing activity
<DS:SIMG.FIGL_ACE_ACRTYOPN_DC>Define Calculation Rules for Derived
Accrual Types</>. With the accrual engine in SAP S/4HANA, however, this
is no longer possible.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
If the derivation rule for &V4& / &V3& is no longer in productive use,
please delete the derivation rule that is valid across accounting
principles. If this doesn't work for you, please contact SAP in order to
find a solution.

ACE_MIG008
- &1/&4/&2: You can't use derivation rules across acctg princpls in S/4 ?The SAP error message ACE_MIG008 indicates that there is an issue with the use of derivation rules across different accounting principles in SAP S/4HANA. This error typically arises during the migration or configuration process when the system detects that derivation rules are being applied in a way that is not compatible with the accounting principles defined in the system.
Cause:
- Accounting Principles Conflict: The error occurs when derivation rules are set up to apply to multiple accounting principles that are not compatible with each other. In S/4HANA, each accounting principle (like IFRS, GAAP, etc.) may have its own set of rules and configurations.
- Configuration Issues: There may be a misconfiguration in the derivation rules or the accounting principles that leads to this conflict.
- Data Migration: If you are migrating data from an older system to S/4HANA, the existing derivation rules may not align with the new accounting principles in S/4HANA.
Solution:
- Review Derivation Rules: Check the derivation rules that are currently set up in the system. Ensure that they are only applied to the relevant accounting principles and that there are no overlaps.
- Adjust Configuration: Modify the configuration of the derivation rules to ensure they comply with the accounting principles. This may involve creating separate rules for different accounting principles.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or guides related to the configuration of accounting principles and derivation rules in S/4HANA for best practices.
- Testing: After making changes, conduct thorough testing to ensure that the derivation rules work correctly without causing conflicts across accounting principles.
- Seek Expert Help: If the issue persists, consider consulting with an SAP expert or a consultant who specializes in S/4HANA migrations and configurations.
