  • Message number: 129

  • Message text: Values for inv.program &1/&2 exist in summarization version &3!

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The system determined that values already exist in summarization
version &V3& for investment program &V1&/&V2&.
Writing values again for investment program &V1&/&V2& to summarization
version &V3& can lead to inconsistencies. Existing data records are
<ZH>not deleted, only overwritten</>. However, an existing data record
is overwritten by a new data record only if <ZH>all characteristics</>
are the same in both data records.
If there have been master data changes or Customizing changes in the
meantime, then it could mean that existing data records are not
overwritten. This would result in incorrect values in reporting.

    How can this happen?

A plan value of 100,000 was stored for a measure that is assigned to
cost center A in summarization version X. The Customizing settings
specify that the characteristic 'cost center' should be shown in detail
display. If you now change the cost center for the measure to B, and
then write the data to summarization version X again, then the existing
data record with cost center A is <ZH>not overwritten</>. Instead, a
second data record with cost center B is entered. As a result, the plan
value for the measure could be shown as 200,000 in reports.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

Make sure that you do not update <ZH>the same</> data for an investment
program more than once in a summarization version, when changes to
master data and/or Customizing settings have taken place. If necessary,
delete the existing values for the investment program in this
summarization version, or use a new summarization version. You can
choose to delete only specific values within a certain subtree, or
delete only values in specific "value categories" (such as plan from
program positions) or only for certain fiscal years.
Updating various "value categories" (such as plan/budget/assigned/user
defined values) at different times is usually not a concern, since
these "value categories" do not overlap. For the same reason, updating
values from different fiscal years at different times also does not
usually pose a problem. In both of these cases, the selection can only
lead to undesired results if the the values for different fiscal years
or for plan, budget, etc. have been stored with different
    characteristics (such as cost centers).
You may want to include values from different systems or clients in the
same summarization database. In that case, in order to avoid the
inconsistency described above, make certain that <ZH>only one
individual sub-tree</> of the investment program is used operatively in
each system or client (that is, that measures or appropriation requests
are assigned only to this one sub-tree). When you use different
sub-trees, there is no overlapping during updating. In any case, you
should still specify that the characteristic 'positon ID' for the
investment program position is for detail display.
