  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You have entered a value greater than 1 in the field for the number of
    jobs to be started.
No actual (update) settlement with interval restrictions (selection via
document numbers, recipient, company code) is allowed for this setting.
Reason: the postprocessing run has to be started automatically as the
last activity during document selection (locking of processed
    documents).
This cannot be coordinated for job splits (external jobs).

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

Delete the interval entry (and thus settlement across all documents in

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message 9J721 - Update run with interval limit only possible when no. of jobs = 1 ?

The SAP error message 9J721 indicates that an update run with an interval limit can only be executed when the number of jobs is set to 1. This error typically arises in the context of background processing or update management in SAP systems, particularly when dealing with update requests or batch jobs.

    Cause:

The error occurs when you attempt to execute an update run with an interval limit while having more than one job scheduled. The system restricts this operation to ensure data consistency and integrity during the update process. When multiple jobs are running, it can lead to conflicts or issues with data processing.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Scheduled Jobs: Review the scheduled jobs in the system. You can do this by navigating to transaction codes like SM37 (Job Monitoring) to see if there are multiple jobs running.

    2. Limit to One Job: If you find that there are multiple jobs scheduled, you will need to either:

      • Cancel the additional jobs that are not necessary.
      • Wait for the currently running jobs to complete before starting the update run with the interval limit.
    3. Adjust Job Parameters: If you need to run multiple jobs, consider adjusting the parameters of the jobs to avoid conflicts. This may involve changing the scheduling times or the job priorities.

    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to your specific version of SAP for any additional guidelines or best practices regarding update runs and job scheduling.

    5. Contact SAP Support: If the issue persists or if you are unsure about the changes to make, consider reaching out to SAP support for assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as SM37 for job monitoring, SM21 for system logs, and SLG1 for application logs to help diagnose issues.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any SAP Notes that might address this specific error or provide additional context or solutions.
    • System Performance: Ensure that your system is not overloaded with jobs, as this can lead to performance issues and may trigger similar errors.
