  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message 6M002 - &1 change poi. deleted before processing: &2 inbound events checked ?

The SAP error message 6M002 typically indicates that a change pointer (POI - Point of Interest) has been deleted before it could be processed. This error is often encountered in the context of data replication or data transfer processes, particularly when using Change Pointers in SAP.

    Cause:

    1. Change Pointer Deletion: The change pointer that was supposed to be processed has been deleted. This can happen if the change pointer was removed manually or if there was a system process that deleted it before the inbound event could be processed.
    2. Timing Issues: There may be timing issues where the change pointer is deleted while the system is still trying to process it.
    3. Configuration Issues: Incorrect configuration in the change pointer settings or in the data transfer process can lead to this error.
    4. Data Consistency Issues: If there are inconsistencies in the data or if the data has been modified or deleted in the source system, it can lead to this error.

    Solution:

    1. Check Change Pointer Status: Verify the status of the change pointers in the system. You can use transaction SCDO (Change Document Objects) to check if the change pointer exists and its status.
    2. Recreate Change Pointers: If the change pointer has been deleted, you may need to recreate it. This can often be done by re-triggering the event that generates the change pointer.
    3. Review Configuration: Check the configuration settings for change pointers and ensure that they are set up correctly. This includes checking the relevant customizing settings in transaction SPRO.
    4. Monitor Inbound Processing: Ensure that the inbound processing is functioning correctly and that there are no other errors in the process that could lead to the deletion of change pointers.
    5. Check for Background Jobs: If there are background jobs that might be deleting change pointers, review their schedules and logs to ensure they are not interfering with the processing of inbound events.
    6. Consult SAP Notes: Look for any relevant SAP Notes that might address this specific error or provide additional troubleshooting steps.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:
      • SCDO: To manage change document objects.
      • BD87: To reprocess IDocs that may be related to the change pointers.
      • SM37: To check the status of background jobs that might be affecting change pointers.
    • Change Pointers: Change pointers are used in SAP to track changes to data objects, allowing for efficient data replication and synchronization.
    • IDoc Processing: If this error is related to IDoc processing, ensure that the IDocs are correctly configured and that there are no issues with the IDoc types being used.

If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to engage with SAP support for further assistance.
