  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message 6G068 - Job & could not be scheduled ?

The SAP error message "6G068 Job & could not be scheduled" typically indicates that there is an issue with scheduling a background job in the SAP system. This error can arise due to various reasons, and understanding the cause is essential for finding a solution. Here are some common causes, potential solutions, and related information:

    Causes:

    1. Resource Availability: The system may not have enough resources (e.g., background processing capacity) to schedule the job.
    2. Job Configuration Issues: There may be misconfigurations in the job settings, such as incorrect variants or parameters.
    3. System Load: High system load or a large number of jobs already scheduled can prevent new jobs from being scheduled.
    4. User Authorizations: The user attempting to schedule the job may not have the necessary authorizations.
    5. Job Class Restrictions: The job class assigned to the job may not be available or may have restrictions that prevent scheduling.
    6. Time Conflicts: The job may be trying to schedule at a time when other jobs are already running or scheduled.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Background Job Configuration:

      • Review the job configuration in transaction SM37 (Job Monitoring) to ensure that all parameters and variants are correctly set.
    2. Monitor System Load:

      • Use transaction SM66 (Global Work Process Overview) to check the current load on the system and see if there are too many jobs running.
    3. Adjust Job Class:

      • If the job class is causing issues, consider changing it to a different class that has available resources.
    4. Review Authorizations:

      • Ensure that the user has the necessary authorizations to schedule background jobs. This can be checked in transaction SU53 or by reviewing the user's roles.
    5. Check for Conflicts:

      • Look for any time conflicts with other scheduled jobs. You can do this in transaction SM37 by filtering for jobs scheduled at the same time.
    6. Increase Background Processing Capacity:

      • If the system is consistently running out of resources, consider increasing the number of background work processes in the system configuration.
    7. Check System Logs:

      • Review the system logs (transaction SM21) for any additional error messages or warnings that might provide more context about the issue.
