- Role: Only possible to display, delete or migrate ?The SAP error message 5W057 indicates that the role you are trying to work with is in a state where it can only be displayed, deleted, or migrated, but not modified. This typically occurs in the context of role management within SAP, particularly when dealing with roles in the context of the SAP Business Suite or SAP GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance).
Cause:
- Role Status: The role may be in a status that restricts modifications. This can happen if the role is locked or if it is a standard role that is not meant to be changed.
- Transport Request: The role might be part of a transport request that is currently being processed or has been released, preventing changes.
- Authorization Issues: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to modify the role.
- Role Type: The role could be a derived role or a role that is linked to a specific profile that restricts changes.
Solution:
- Check Role Status: Verify the status of the role in transaction PFCG (Profile Generator). If the role is locked, you may need to unlock it or create a new role based on it.
- Review Transport Requests: Check if the role is part of an active transport request. If so, you may need to wait until the transport is completed or released.
- Authorization Check: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to modify the role. You may need to consult with your SAP security team to gain the required permissions.
- Create a Copy: If the role is a standard role or a derived role, consider creating a copy of the role (using the "Copy Role" function in PFCG) and then make your modifications to the new role.
- Migration: If the role is intended for migration, follow the appropriate migration procedures as outlined in your organization's SAP guidelines.
